Workshop host Vanessa Perez

Vanessa is one of our regular workshop hosts. She specializes in using felt fabrics to create her beautiful pieces.

Felt is a dense, non-woven fabric made by matting, condensing and pressing fibers together using heat, moisture and pressure. You can make your own felt from natural fibers, such as wool, or from synthetic fibers. Or you blend them together! Most people create felt by using hot water, soap and agitation to change the raw fibers into a fabric.

As a true queen of DIY creations, Vanessa likes to use and combine different materials to craft her unique creations. Her ultimate DIY-tip? ‘‘Think out-of-the box! Try to use your materials in another way than you’re accustomed to once in a while. This might give you surprising and unique results!’’
